DPI and physical print size move in opposite directions. A 3600x4200px file prints at 300 DPI at 12x14 inches — the standard full-front DTF size. Scale that same file to 14x16 inches and DPI drops to roughly 257. The pixel count does not change; the physical space those pixels fill does. Always check DPI at the exact placement size you are printing.

Can I fix a low-resolution file by changing DPI in Photoshop?

No. Changing the DPI value in Photoshop without resampling only changes document metadata — it does not add pixels. To genuinely increase resolution, use AI upscaling tools that interpolate new pixel data. The cleanest fix is always to source a higher-resolution original file.
